"He that hath abeard is more than a youth, and he that hath no beard is less than a man: and he that is more than a youth is not for me, and he that is less than a man, I am not for him"
SPEAKER
The speaker of this quote is Beatrice.
INTERPRETATION
Beatrice is basically saying that a man with no man power can not be apart of her life and one that has too much man power and use it to full strenghth cannot be her lover. She simply wants a man in between not one that hides his vigour all the time.
DRAMATIC SIGNIFICANCE
The dramatic significance that is portrayed in this quote is that Beatrice is not clear of the kind of companion she desires. It also creates humor and gives the reader or audience a more sense appealing and mind straying feeling, basicall questioning what kind of man does she want?
Beatrice herself hid her feelings for Benedick. This hidden emotion creates a net that even the audience recognized that she would eventually fall in it and dont even look back (what a laugh) even though she is thinks she is a tough deal.
